Herbie O’Beetle Volkswagen crossed over the Rainbow Bridge while braving a torrential rainstorm in Alexandria Virginia. Born October 11, 1999 in Mexico to the Volkswagen family. Herbie immigrated to an unknown foster family in Massachusetts and was later adopted by canine acupuncturist, Jeanie Mossa Kraft.
Donning white dog paws all over his body, Herbie was known as the Barkmobile of Four Paws Acupuncture. He braved the insane streets of the North Shore of MA, facing the brutal driving of Bostonians in their caaaaaahs each day. (Not to mention the pothole ridden roads!) Arriving at each canine patient’s home, many dogs believed he was a cookie jar on wheels.
He was the bane of AAA tow truck drivers, though he contributed to the finances of many mechanics. It is believed that a poltergeist spirit lived in Herbie causing the sunroof to automatically open during rain or snowstorms. Later the spirit rigged Herbie’s alarm system to go off anytime the car was started. The only way around this was to first open the trunk, leave it open, start the car, shut the trunk and drive off. Many neighbors and dog owners believed Herbie’s owner was OCD as they watched in disbelief each time she performed this ritual.
Herbie is survived by his owner Jeanie, her husband Norm, felines Nubi wan Kenobi, Luna miso Poosie, and SPCA rescue dog Quan Yin Kali Wu who has donated a large portion of her fur to the backseat of this dear car.
Herbie’s body has been donated to the SPCA of Virginia. As an organ donor his spirit lives on, helping many other Beetles in need.
A private ceremony will take place in his honor attended by family members only. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the SPCA. A donation of a new Fiat or Smart to Jeanie would be appreciated as well.
Thank you dear Herbie for your many years of service.
